Rhythms of Grace, Weekly Devotional

“Have this mind among yourselves, which is yours in Christ Jesus, who, though he was in the form of God, did not count equality with God a thing to be grasped, but emptied himself, by taking the form of a servant, being born in the likeness of men. And being found in human form, he humbled himself by becoming obedient to the point of death, even death on a cross. Therefore God has highly exalted him and bestowed on him the name that is above every name, so that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.

Philippians 2:5-11 ESV

On our journey toward Easter, we are attempting to consecrate ourselves before the Lord, offering our sacrifices and our hearts, trying our best to identify with Jesus. Paul encourages us to let our minds dwell on Jesus and what He did and Who He was. He was the consummate servant, even to death. Sadly, His life and death are lost on so many. They just don’t seem to get it, or they don’t want to get it. Know this, though, there will come a day when it will be clear to all of creation that Jesus and His name are to be worshipped, and His lordship declared by all. I pray that a history of our lives will have enough evidence to show that we bowed our knee to Jesus and confessed His name while we were here on earth. When the day of completion comes, will we already be on our knees?

Bowing your knee before Jesus now and confessing that He is your Lord and not holding back in knowing who Jesus is and who He has been to you personally and dwelling on this creates beautiful worship within.

Oh to worship Him, with all that is within you… Bless His holy name.
