David recounts his experiences as a shepherd, and shows the lengths that a shepherd will go to so that His sheep are safe and taken care of, giving us a picture of Jesus, the better shepherd.

“But David said to Saul, “Your servant used to keep his father’s sheep, and when a lion or a bear came and took a lamb out of the flock, I went out after it and struck it, and delivered the lamb from its mouth; and when it arose against me, I caught it by its beard, and struck and killed it. Your servant has killed both lion and bear; and this uncircumcised Philistine will be like one of them, seeing he has defied the armies of the living God.” Moreover David said, “The LORD, who delivered me from the paw of the lion and from the paw of the bear, He will deliver me from the hand of this Philistine.” And Saul said to David, “Go, and the LORD be with you!” I Samuel 17:34-37 NKJV

All the previous tests and trials, were merely practice runs for the day you take down your giant, David was ready and committed to what he knew needed to be done. He was confidant that the same God who got him through all his other challenges would be the same God he would face the Philistine with. He wasn’t concerned, he was doggedly determined that he was going to take the Philistine down and God was coming with to do so!

Which giants head are you doggedly determined  to removing today?

Saul a picture of those who lord (the flesh)over you, can not hold you back from your victory…it’s yours today…go Get a head!!

Pray: Father you have called me to conquer, I commit the enemy of my day to you and trust that I will slay that which defiles anything that belongs to you in my heart, my family, my work, my life even that which steals my time. I will trust that The same God who took down the Philistine will help me in taking down those obstacles that get in my way of accomplishing anything positive today! I give you first place alongside me as I wage through this day in victory.
